Playing With Gelatos, Stencils And Texture Paste

Have you heard of Gelatos by Faber Castell?  They are these fun soft crayons that you can play with on your projects in several different ways.  My layout here is using gelatos, stencils and texture paste to create some embellishments for my page.

Find a stencil that you could cut the shape out easily.  Here I found a flower stencil that was simple to cut out.  You start by taking your Gelato color and adding it to your texture paste.  You just mash it in and mix until you get a color you like.  Then take a palette knife and spread across your stencil which is atop a piece of cardstock or pattern paper.  I did tape my stencil down with washi tape to keep it from moving around.  Let dry and then cut out your flowers and arrange them on your layout.

I added a piece flair in just as an accent. I added clusters at the top and bottom of my page to give it an overall balanced feel. I also used foam adhesive to add dimension to the cut outs.

I had leftover texture paste, so I just wiped it on a strip of cardstock and make a little pattern paper border for the side of my page.

Gelatos are a great way to add a little mixed media style to your layouts without a lot of work.  They are fun to play with and you can use them by themselves, with stencils, water (which will turn them into watercolor paint or mist depending on how you want to go), texture paste, etc.  The possibilities  are endless!  Have fun!
